The Kairos ransomware group has allegedly struck another Australian company, this time listing an NSW kitchen design and renovation firm, Leisure Coast Kitchens.
The group claimed the hack in a 16 September leak post and claimed to have stolen 540 gigabytes of data from the company.
Kairos has not listed any ransom details, but it is threatening to release the data within six days. The hackers have also published several files as evidence, including a pair of employee driver’s license scans, a company balance sheet, and customer correspondence, including the customer’s name and contact details.
Kairos also published a completed tax file number declaration and an employee’s personal details, including bank account numbers and emergency contact numbers.
Leisure Coast Kitchens has yet to respond to Cyber Daily’s request for comment.
Who is Kairos?
Kairos first emerged on the ransomware scene in November 2024 and has claimed 96 victims in that time. The group is hardly prolific, but it does appear highly effective.
The group’s most recent victim in the ANZ region was the New Zealand arm of a global textile supplier, Warwick Fabrics, which fell victim to the hackers in July. Warwick Fabrics was its first Kiwi victim, while its most recent Australian victim was property management firm LR Reed.
According to its leak site, Kairos gives its victims seven days to agree to its ransom demand and offers a discount for prompt payment.
Who is Leisure Coast Kitchens?
Based in the Shellharbour suburb of Oak Flats in the Illawarra region, Leisure Coast Kitchens offers kitchen design, construction, and renovation services.
It also designs home offices, outdoor areas, and laundries. The company partners with several local construction companies, including Stroud Homes and the Evolution Building Group.
