The New Zealand arm of a global textile supplier based in Melbourne, Australia, has allegedly suffered a data breach following a ransomware attack earlier this year.
Warwick Fabrics was listed by the Kairos cyber extortion group on 3 July, with the hackers claiming to have gotten away with 386 gigabytes of stolen data.
While the hackers have published the dataset in its entirety, Kairos has also shared some select documents as evidence of compromise. These include a document outlining employee salaries, a financial performance review, and commercial pricing records.
In addition to the company data, the evidentiary documents also include personal data: a scan of a valid employee passport, a medical report, and a last will and testament.
Kairos did not list a ransom demand.
Warwick Fabrics has yet to respond to Cyber Daily’s request for comment.
Who is Kairos?
Kairos first emerged on the ransomware scene in November 2024 and has claimed 92 victims in that time.
The group has claimed several Australian victims, with its most recent being Australian property management firm LR Reed, which fell victim to the hackers in July. Warwick Fabrics is its first Kiwi victim.
According to threat intelligence firm CYJAX, Kairos is active on several Russian-language hacking forums and does not appear to be linked to other hacking groups.
According to its leak site, Kairos gives its victims seven days to agree to its ransom demand and offers a discount for prompt payment.

The New Zealand arm of the operation is headquartered in the Auckland suburb of Mairangi Bay, but also has showrooms and offices in Christchurch and Wellington.
