Amid an evolving market, with new threat actors and emerging risks from remote work, how can businesses best protect their endpoint devices?
Endpoint security company Absolute Software has announced the release of Building Resilient Zero-Trust Capabilities(1), a report that outlines what resilient zero trust is and how the company addresses it.
As the report published by 451 Research outlines, zero-trust architecture is an approach to systems which implements users and networks to be authenticated and authorised.
This is a form of security that Absolute Software prides itself on being an industry leader in. The company, which calls itself “the only intelligent security solutions provider capable of delivering visibility and control capabilities to endpoints, applications, and network connections” has integrated its software in over 600 million devices.
“Absolute has been a pioneer in not only defining the concept of resilient zero trust, but also delivering the full set of capabilities needed to achieve it,” said John Herrema, EVP of products and strategy at Absolute.
“It has become abundantly clear that widely distributed, hybrid work environments are here to stay and, as a result, organisations are seeking security approaches that fully integrate endpoint and access assessments to ensure that zero trust principles are fully applied at every step.
“Our unique ability to enable visibility and self-healing from the endpoint to the network edge means we can offer a truly differentiated solution in a crowded, high-growth market.”
Principal research analyst for 451 Research, Erik Hanselman, points out the importance of resilient zero trust in patching the security holes most frequently reported by industry professionals such as phishing, endpoint security, malware, ransomware, user behaviour and more.
According to the report, the biggest point of issue for companies is user behaviour at 20 per cent, 4 per cent higher than data privacy and almost double that of malicious software and ransomware.
“As the study data shows, organisations are addressing a broad set of security pain points. Zero-trust approaches can be effective, but if they’re not well integrated, several challenges can arise,” said Hanselman.
“For a zero-trust environment to be truly resilient, it must bring together endpoint security, secure access capabilities, network visibility and management into an integrated system. Many zero-trust approaches can link these elements but don’t truly integrate them.
“An integrated environment can enhance situational awareness by bringing together perspectives from all the aspects of devices, their activity, network traffic and high-level threat visibility.
“When fused together, it is a combination that is better able to hold off attacks and recover faster when they do occur. It is how organisations can realise the benefits that real, resilient zero-trust promises.”
