DigiCert has reported 38 per cent year-on-year growth in annual recurring revenue for its Trust Lifecycle Manager platform, as enterprises seek to reduce certificate-related outages and prepare for tighter renewal deadlines.
DigiCert’s 2026 Global PKI Research found only 34 per cent of organisations maintain a complete, up-to-date certificate inventory, while 73 per cent are very or extremely concerned about outages caused by expired certificates.
The pressure is set to increase as public TLS certificate validity periods move towards a maximum of 47 days by 2029, leaving organisations less time to manage renewals across complex IT environments.
“Certificate management has become core infrastructure for the enterprise,” Deepika Chauhan (pictured), DigiCert’s chief product officer, said in a statement.
She added that shorter certificate lifespans leave less room for error and are driving demand for automated renewals and the cryptographic agility needed for the post-quantum transition.
The company said enterprises managing more than 100,000 certificates are using Trust Lifecycle Manager to centralise visibility, automate lifecycle operations and reduce manual work.
The platform’s most recent capabilities include Continuous Validation, which automates domain control checks ahead of certificate issuance and renewal; Apple Device Attestation to verify hardware-backed device identity before issuing certificates; and automated management of enterprise trust stores.
The company is also expanding integrations with BeyondTrust, F5, Fortinet, HashiCorp/IBM, HPE, Imperva, and NetScaler to extend certificate automation across enterprise applications, infrastructure and security platforms.
Customers Schweizerische Mobiliar and MediData cited improved visibility and automation as important to reducing operational risk and maintaining trusted connections as certificate volumes grow.
“Reliability is fundamental to the digital connections that support Switzerland's healthcare system,” Michael Stocker, Lead ICT-Infrastructure and ICT-Operations at MediData AG, said.
“With 24,000 participants exchanging more than 120 million documents through our protected digital data space each year, we need certificate management that can scale without interrupting critical workflows. DigiCert Trust Lifecycle Manager helps us automate those operations and maintain trusted connections across this ecosystem.”
