Many of our cyber security capabilities have come into question following Australia’s worst data breach in history, with the theft of 40 per cent of the population’s personal data. And the breaches are still coming — and they don’t look like they’ll be stopping anytime soon.

But now, with new funding released in the recent federal budget, this panel will help you discover how Australia looks to bolster cyber security across government, defence, and business.

Gain insights into international cyber crime trends that threaten the stability of the governments, economies, and societies in our region, and the many opportunities to build and maintain cyber resilience.

In this session, we will cover:

  • The threats that face Australian networks and industries
  • New opportunities to support the modernisation of Australia’s cyber defences
  • How Australia is working to combat ransomware in developing nations to reduce cyber threats among global supply chains
  • Is the legal and regulatory landscape in Australia where it should be when it comes to managing appropriately managing cyber risk?
  • Advice for board directors on their duties and obligations in managing cyber risks

Our expert panellists are Sarah Sloan, head of government affairs and public policy for Australia and New Zealand, Palo Alto Networks; Persia Navidi, partner, Hicksons Lawyers; and Senator James Paterson, chair of select committee on foreign interference through social media, shadow minister for cyber security, shadow minister for home affairs.
