ASX-listed IT service management company AUCloud has announced the appointment of Peter Maloney as its new chief executive officer and managing director.
With a wealth of experience under his belt, having been the CEO for several Australian technology companies over the last 20 years, Maloney has expressed his excitement at joining AUCloud and the role the company plays in providing truly sovereign cloud solutions across the Australian government, defence, intelligence, critical industry and more.
“Cyber security is a global issue of significant importance,” said Maloney
“Every department head and board room in Australia must be thinking about how to protect the data they hold on to Australian businesses and citizens.
“This is no longer a compliance issue, or an issue company directors can walk past. Sovereignty of data is an important ingredient in this equation; and when we think about the word ‘data’, it’s even more important to think about how we define the word data.
“Companies and government agencies’ data management and protection is critically important. With ever-present cyber security risks, including recent prominent public breaches across Australia, AUCloud’s Australian-based sovereign cloud offering is designed to mitigate and protect against the risks cyber security presents.”
Maloney has serious experience leading Australian technology companies, previously having been the managing director of Dye & Durham Australia, a subsidiary of Canadian-listed Dye & Durham Ltd (TSX: DND).
Prior to that, Maloney was the head of GlobalX for a period of 10 years, before it was sold to DND.
AUCloud chair Cathie Reid has said that the board is greatly enthused by Maloney’s experience and believes that his leadership will help the company develop as a sovereign cloud infrastructure organisation.
“Peter’s experience in the leadership of some of Australia’s leading technology companies will greatly assist AUCloud as it seeks to consolidate its significant investment to date in sovereign cloud infrastructure services,” Reid said.
AUCloud’s former chief executive and founder Phil Dawson will move into the role of executive director, focusing on government relations. He will remain a key player in the company’s development and strategy.
