CrowdStrike has introduced an Agentic Identity Provider (Agentic IdP), positioning Falcon Next-Gen Identity Security as an identity control plane for enterprises deploying autonomous AI agents.
According to the cyber security firm, traditional identity providers are not designed for agents that can independently execute code, access systems, move data and delegate tasks to other agents.
Instead, organisations have typically represented them through service accounts, API keys and workload identities that can create persistent access and limited accountability.
Agentic IdP is designed to establish each AI agent as a trusted identity before it can access enterprise resources, with CrowdStrike’s Continuous Identity technology determining what that agent can access, for how long, and under what conditions.
“Securing AI agents demands solutions built for how they operate,” Scott Kriz, GM of Continuous Identity at CrowdStrike, said in a statement.
“Continuous Identity modernised identity security for the agentic era, but you cannot continuously authorise an identity you were never able to establish, and traditional identity providers break the moment an agent acts on its own.
“Agentic IdP is the identity provider for AI agents.”
The system automatically registers AI agents discovered by CrowdStrike’s Falcon Guardian, creating an authoritative directory as agents come online across the enterprise.
Each agent is then issued a cryptographically verifiable identity, with only trusted agents eligible for authorisation. CrowdStrike said the approach is intended to prevent agents from spoofing or sharing identities and provide a foundation for continuous, risk-aware access decisions.
Rather than giving agents standing credentials, Agentic IdP brokers access through short-lived tokens scoped to the minimum permissions and duration required for an individual task.
CrowdStrike said every action can also be attributed to the human or workload the agent is acting on behalf of, creating an audit trail across the agent’s activity.
The Agentic IdP forms part of CrowdStrike’s broader strategy to make the Falcon platform the security infrastructure for enterprise AI adoption, with Falcon Guardian providing runtime visibility and enforcement while Agentic IdP establishes the identities on which continuous authorisation depends.
