CrowdStrike has launched a new Cyber Superintelligence Lab dedicated to developing frontier AI for cyber security and AI safety, as the company looks to combine its threat intelligence and security data.
The lab brings together CrowdStrike’s AI researchers, offensive operators, and incident responders under a single research program led by Dr Bartley Richardson, the company’s chief AI and autonomous systems officer.
CrowdStrike said the lab will use the data and high-fidelity environments underpinning its Falcon platform to develop the next generation of security technology for an increasingly agentic threat landscape.
Falcon generates trillions of events each day, with security signals mapped and labelled by frontline analysts. The dataset is supplemented by 15 years of threat intelligence and incident response data, providing examples of how attacks unfolded and how defenders stopped them.
“Security is how AI scales,” George Kurtz, CEO and founder of CrowdStrike, said from the Fal.Con event in Las Vegas.
“The Cyber Superintelligence Lab concentrates the PhDs, AI researchers, and the threat hunters who stop real attacks every day on the Falcon platform. That depth of applied AI talent belongs on the platform where breaches are stopped. The synthesis of our data moat and cyber security’s very best AI talent advantages defenders like never before.”
The creation of the lab comes as generative and agentic AI changes both sides of the cyber arms race. Attackers can increasingly use AI to accelerate reconnaissance, vulnerability discovery and other stages of an intrusion, while defenders need to process huge volumes of security telemetry and respond at comparable speed.
Richardson said this shift requires security AI to move beyond simply analysing threats and towards continuously learning from real-world attacks and taking action.
“The real test for AI in security is whether it can stop breaches,” Dr. Richardson said.
“To accomplish this today, we need intelligence that operates at machine speed, continuously learning and improving. It is the standard the whole industry will need to move towards in the face of AI-empowered adversaries.”
