Alation is an enterprise data platform that has shifted more into AI, enabling its customers to use the technology to turn data into content. The company works with more than 500 global firms, including around half of the US Fortune 1000.
Speaking with TechCrunch, the company confirmed that it was aware of a cyber attack and that an investigation was underway.
“Alation recently identified an isolated incident involving unauthorised activity in one of its systems,” said an external representative for Alation, Stephen Russell, in a statement to TechCrunch.
“We are conducting a thorough investigation of what occurred, and we will provide additional information as appropriate.”
The company has not outlined any details of the cyber incident, including whether customer data was impacted, how many, or what measures it has taken to bolster its security. It is also unclear whether customers had been informed.
The company’s original disclosure earlier this week mentioned an unspecified incident that led to “degraded ability” for some customers, which Alation said was fixed within an hour.
Cyber Daily has not observed any threat actors taking responsibility for the incident. Alation’s investigation is ongoing, and the company said it will provide updates when it knows more.
