Pay or leak: ShinyHunters delivers ultimatum to Logitech

The ShinyHunters hacking collective claims to have collected another high-profile scalp, this time PC hardware and gaming brand Logitech.

The hackers listed the company alongside its video game streaming platform, Streamlabs, in a recent leak post.

“This is a final warning to reach out by 21 Aug 2026 before we leak along with several annoying (digital) problems that’ll come your way,” the hackers said in an 18 August post under the header Logitech/Streamlabs.

“Make the right decision, don’t be the next headline.”

ShinyHunters labelled the post “Final warning pay or leak”, but deigned to share any details of the nature or volume of the data allegedly in their possession.

Cyber Daily has contacted Logitech for commentary on the hackers’ claims but has yet to receive a response.

Who are ShinyHunters?

Ransomware.live’s capsule description of ShinyHunters may be lacking in detail, but it certainly hits the high points.

“ShinyHunters is a financially motivated data-theft and extortion group active since 2020, responsible for high-profile breaches including Ticketmaster (via Snowflake) and PowerSchool; by 2025 they launched a RaaS offering called ‘shinysp1d3r,’ and in August 2025 French authorities arrested four members,” the description said.

Several members linked to the group were in fact arrested, and others said they were quitting hacking, but enough members remain that the group – now known as ShinyHunters – is still an active threat, particularly where exploiting supply chain vulnerabilities is concerned.

Recent high-profile victims include professional services giant EY and enterprise communications firm RingCentral, which recently confirmed it was responding to a cyber security incident after ShinyHunters said it had stolen 623 gigabytes of company data.

Members of the group were also responsible for the 2025 Qantas hack, which saw the data of millions of Australians published to the dark web. The group has claimed a total of 145 victims since October 2025.

Who is Logitech?

Logitech describes itself as a maker of “pro-level gaming gear”, although it manufactures many less glamorous PC devices for business as well as pleasure.

It is perhaps best known for its mice and keyboards, but also makes webcams, audio devices, gaming peripherals, and software for those devices.

Streamlabs is the company’s streaming platform for gamecasting services such as Twitch. Originally launched independently in 2014 as TwitchAlerts, the company was bought out by Logitech in 2019 for US$89 million.
