Genetec adds AI-driven investigation tools to Security Center SaaS

Genetec has introduced new investigative capabilities within its Security Center SaaS platform, aimed at helping organisations improve incident resolution across complex, distributed physical security environments.

The enterprise physical security software provider said the enhancements are designed for investigations that span multiple facilities, geographies, and camera vendors, where security teams often begin with limited information and must piece together evidence from thousands of devices.

Security incidents often rely on video and data drawn from disparate systems, yet many traditional tools are built for closed, single-vendor environments. According to Genetec, this fragmentation forces investigators to restart searches, duplicate work, and switch systems as cases expand across sites and technologies.

Genetec’s updated investigation experience keeps evidence, contextual information, and investigative decisions connected from the initial incident report through to case closure.

“When an incident occurs, security teams must act fast and follow the investigation wherever it leads, even with limited initial details,” Anne-Cécile Millot-Tournier, product group director, intelligent automation at Genetec, said in a statement.

“Unlike tools built for closed, single-vendor systems, the new investigation capabilities in Security Center SaaS are built for enterprise environments, enabling teams to work across thousands of cameras, multiple sites, and mixed ecosystems without switching systems or launching separate searches as new leads emerge.”

At the core of the update is enhanced natural language search powered by AI. Investigators can input everyday descriptions, such as an approximate time or partial clothing details, and convert them into actionable queries across video feeds from multiple sites and camera brands. Results can then be refined using contextual cues including location, surrounding activity and preceding or subsequent events.

As cases progress, evidence can be consolidated into a structured file, with video clips, snapshots, and related materials automatically organised chronologically. AI-assisted capabilities, including automated video summaries, support faster documentation and reporting.

The new capabilities will begin rolling out to Security Center SaaS users in February 2026, with additional functionality introduced progressively.
