Australian UPS maker PowerShield has sent an email to its partners warning them of potential exposure to a phishing email.

“We are writing to inform you that PowerShield was exposed to a phishing email earlier today.

“As part of our immediate response, we are conducting a thorough investigation and taking all necessary steps to secure our systems and communications,” PowerShield’s CareTeam said in a 9 October email.

“While the original message appears to require access to the PowerShield tenancy to view the linked file, we are concerned that a broader distribution may have occurred.

“If you are receiving this message, it is because we believe your organisation has been sent a copy of the phishing email.”

PowerShield included a screenshot of the phishing email in its warning message. The email comes from a PowerShield address and includes a link to what appears to be a contract agreement. The email includes PowerShield branding and says it was “generated through PowerShield’s use of Microsoft 365”.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your vigilance. Your partnership and security are extremely important to us,” PowerShield said.

The company warned its partners not to click on any links in suspicious emails and to forward any such messages to PowerShield for further verification. In the case that malicious links have been clicked on, PowerShield recommends that its partners contact their IT teams and conduct a scan of their systems.
