A pub owned by car journalist and ex-Top Gear and Grand Tour host Jeremy Clarkson has been targeted by the same threat actors responsible for cyber attacks on M&S and Co-op.

In his column in The Sun, Clarkson revealed that the threat actors that had hit M&S, Co-op, and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) had hit his pub, The Farmer’s Dog in Burford, in the Cotswold Hills of England.

“So, Jaguar Land Rover had to shut down its production lines this week after systems were breached by computer hackers. And we are told similar attacks were launched in recent months on both M&S and the Co-op,” he said.

“But no one thought to mention that my pub, The Farmer’s Dog, has been hit too. It was though.”

Clarkson purchased The Windmill pub for roughly £1,000,000 in 2022, reopening it as The Farmer’s Dog on 22 August 2024.

The cyber attack on the pub closely follows JLR disclosing a cyber attack, leading to it disabling some systems.

“JLR has been impacted by a cyber incident. We took immediate action to mitigate its impact by proactively shutting down our systems,” Jaguar Land Rover said in a recent but undated statement on its corporate website.

“We are now working at pace to restart our global applications in a controlled manner. At this stage, there is no evidence any customer data has been stolen, but our retail and production activities have been severely disrupted.”

The cyber attack was claimed by the Scattered Spider hacking collective, after the hackers taunted the company on Telegram.

“Where is my new car, Land Rover,” they said.

It is believed that the hackers are blackmailing the manufacturer for money.
