A 21-year-old man has been found with child abuse material and illicit substances after a search warrant was executed as part of Strike Force Angle.
Detectives from the NSW Police Force’s State Crime Command’s Cybercrime Squad have arrested a 21-year-old Grafton man after he was found to have allegedly used cryptocurrency to purchase child abuse material online.
The man was arrested as part of Strike Force Angle, the Cybercrime Squad’s ongoing investigation into individuals using cryptocurrency to either purchase or distribute child abuse material.
Cybercrime Squad detectives executed a search warrant at the man’s Grafton home on the morning of 4 September, finding two laptops, a mobile phone, and LSD, ketamine, and MDMA in his possession.
A forensic triage of the devices found images and videos of child abuse material. The man was arrested at the scene and taken to Grafton Police Station.
The man was charged with two counts of possession of child abuse material, possession of prohibited drug, supply of prohibited drug more than indictable and less than commercial quantity, supply of prohibited drug more than or equal to commercial quantity, possession of instructions for manufacture etc of prohibited drug, and hindering or resisting police officer in the execution of duty.
He was refused bail and will appear before a court today, 5 September.
