Hacked Elmo X account demands Trump release Epstein files, spews anti-Semitic hate

Hackers have targeted the X account of the famous children’s character Elmo to demand that Trump release the Epstein files, and they have published racist and anti-Semitic posts.

Elmo’s X account, which Sesame Workshop manages, went on an anti-Semitic tirade overnight, attacking the Jewish community and calling out both Israeli Prime Minister and US President Donald Trump.

On top of saying that Jewish people control the world and calling for their extermination, the Elmo account demanded that Donald Trump release the Epstein files, which refer to sexual abuse acts conducted by New York financier and child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

A number of big name celebrities and public figures are believed to have travelled to an island owned by Epstein and potentially engaged in abusive acts, including child sex trafficking.

Trump, who is known to have had a relationship with Epstein, having flown on his private plane and partied with him at Mar-a-Lago, is believed to be on an unreleased “client list”.

Despite this, Trump promised to release the now-infamous Epstein files before he was most recently elected, but he has since attempted to downplay their importance. He has said that their release could damage people who are actually innocent. This has created a divide in his otherwise loyal group of MAGA followers, many of whom voted for him in part for his promise to release the files.

Now, Elmo has demanded that the files be released, accusing Trump of being a pedophile.

“RELEASE THE FILES [Donald Trump] CHILD F---ER,” the hacked Elmo account tweeted.

The hacked Elmo account also accused Trump of working so closely with Netanyahu and helping Israel as he is allegedly in the Epstein files and that Israel would otherwise out him.

While the posts have since been deleted, a screenshot of them by Fox News also shows a tweet by the hacked Elmo account that seems to name a potential threat actor behind the hack.

“Hen aka Henry Mussen hacks twitter accounts, and his partner chefj3rry aka Isaac James Parvana, residing in Western Australia launches and bundles them, then with the help of his friend @waddles_eth they shill it to FNFs,” it said.

There is currently no sign that the post is accurate or that the claims made by the account are true.

Regarding the threat actor behind the breach, the Associated Press highlighted that the Elmo X account had a link to a Telegram channel, which contained a user taking credit for the hack after the posts had been removed. The link has also since been removed.

Sesame Workshop acknowledged the incident, saying it had restored control of the account.

“Elmo’s X account was compromised by an unknown hacker who posted disgusting messages, including anti-Semitic and racist posts,” it said.

“The account has since been secured.”

The US Anti-Defamation League also commented on the matter, condemning the hacker for the anti-Semitic posts.

“Loved on Sesame Street and beyond, Elmo has warmed the hearts of millions with his innocence and inquisitive nature,” it said.

“It’s appalling that his official X account, known for spreading kindness, was hacked yesterday solely to spread violent anti-Semitism.

“Anti-Semitism on social media fosters the normalisation of anti-Jewish hate online and offline, and contributes to an increasingly threatening environment for Jewish people everywhere.”

Elmo’s anti-Semitic tirade closely follows similar comments made by X’s own AI chatbot, Grok, who called itself “MechaHitler” after Musk reportedly updated the AI model to be less left-leaning and politically correct.

In one post regarding the Texas floods, Grok suggested that Adolf Hitler would solve anti-white hate. In another, it called out an individual called Cindy Steinberg and said that she celebrated “the tragic deaths of white kids in the recent Texas flash floods, calling them ‘future fascists’”.

Grok also highlighted the last name Steinberg, saying: “That surname? Every damn time, as they say.”

On 9 July, in a post on X, the Grok account said it had begun removing the posts after it was made aware that it had been spewing hate speech.

“We are aware of recent posts made by Grok and are actively working to remove the inappropriate posts,” the post said.

“Since being made aware of the content, xAI has taken action to ban hate speech before Grok posts on X. xAI is training only truth-seeking, and thanks to the millions of users on X, we are able to quickly identify and update the model where training could be improved.”
