A parliamentary committee will hold its final public hearings into cyber security for Australian small and medium-sized businesses on the 2nd and 4th of November, examining support needs across eight sectors.

The House Select Committee on Cyber Security for Small to Medium Sized Businesses and Organisations will hear from representatives from the insurance, telecommunications, health, education, early childcare, finance, legal, and IT sectors.

Committee chair Sally Sitou MP said evidence so far had highlighted the need for practical, targeted and accessible cyber security support.

“As we come to the end of the public hearing program, a clear message has emerged from witnesses: cyber security support should be actionable, targeted and accessible for small and medium-sized businesses and organisations,” Sitou said.

“The remaining hearings will continue to examine how Australia’s small to medium-sized businesses and organisations can be better supported by the Australian Government, with a focus on the different needs across sectors.”

Both sessions will be held virtually and broadcast live through the Australian Parliament’s website.

Detailed programs will be available on the Committee’s website, and the hearings will be broadcast live at aph.gov.au/live.
