The video, which was posted to Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social, shows footage of a number of politicians, including both former president Joe Biden and Obama himself saying, “no one is above the law”, before moving to Pepe The Frog dressed as a clown.

The video shifts to an AI generated video of Obama being arrested in the Oval Office while Trump laughs and his unofficial anthem, YMCA by Village People, plays in the background. Finally, the video cuts to Obama in a jail cell dressed in an orange jumpsuit.

While Trump did not provide any context for the video being posted, it follows calls by director of national intelligence Tulsi Gabbard for Obama and several former senior US national security officials to be prosecuted.

Reportedly, new evidence suggests that Obama and other officials interfered with the 2016 election by feeding the media fake information that said Russia had attempted to “hack” and ensure Trump won.

“Americans will finally learn the truth about how in 2016, intelligence was politicized and weaponized by the most powerful people in the Obama administration to lay the groundwork for what was essentially a years-long coup against President [Donald Trump], subverting the will of the American people and undermining our democratic republic,” Gabbard said on X.

Gabbard also said it was discovered by the intelligence community on 8 December 2016 that Russia lacked the intent nor the capability to hack the election and that this information was prepared for the President’s daily brief, but that the information was pulled before he could see it “based on new guidance”.

Gabbard then said Obama requested the intelligence community to create a new assessment that outlined Russia’s election interference “even though it would contradict multiple intelligence assessments released over the previous several months”, and that Obama then spread this information to his media allies.

“These documents detail a treasonous conspiracy by officials at the highest levels of the Obama White House to subvert the will of the American people and try to usurp the President from fulfilling his mandate,” she added.

“This betrayal concerns every American. The integrity of our democratic republic demands that every person involved be investigated and brought to justice to prevent this from ever happening again.

“I am providing all documents to the Department of Justice to deliver the accountability that President Trump, his family, and the American people deserve.”

Referring back to the video’s claim that “no one is above the law”, Trump’s most recent election win saw him become the first convicted felon to become president, after a jury found him guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business documents in May 2024.

This was in regard to Trump’s sex scandal with adult film star Stormy Daniels, which he kept quiet using $130,000 of hush money. While this in itself was not illegal, he hid the payments in invoices to his lawyer, Michael Cohen, and in other documents.

However, Trump was granted an unconditional discharge during his time as President-elect, making him a convicted felon but one who faces no further penalties, fines or jail time.
