Along with the search for a new CISO, a fresh aspect of the role will see the prospective candidate adopt the dual title of executive director of data and digital resilience.
This new description of the CISO position reflects the wider Victorian government’s commitment to facing the potential risks of a digitised environment, with this new facet of the role exemplifying this.
The Department of Government Services (DGS) said the role will enhance Victoria’s strategic approach to addressing the changing nature of digital and cyber threats.
“[The] role shapes and delivers initiatives to strengthen cyber maturity across departments and agencies, ensuring a coordinated, contemporary and resilient whole-of-government approach,” DGS said of the vacant position in a recruitment post.
“By connecting digitising systems across the state, DGS drives improved service delivery and a more resilient digital ecosystem.
“Within DGS, the cyber security and digital resilience division oversees the state’s digital resilience, cyber posture and whole-of-government incident response.”
Clarke, who stepped into the role in late 2023, will move into a chief executive role at New Zealand-based security company Redshield.
Victoria’s Department of Government Services (DGS) director of cyber, Rohan Davies, will serve as acting CISO until the vacant position is filled.
