World-leading cloud cyber security company Cloudflare has announced the appointment of a new head of the ANZ region.
The company appointed Melbourne-based Steve Bray as the new regional chief, who brings with him 25 years of industry experience, formerly leading major tech companies like Zendesk and Salesforce.
Bray also brings a passion for Cloudflare’s mission: “to help build a better internet”.
“The internet has become such an integral part of our everyday lives that we take it for granted and forget that we are using it today in ways for which it was not originally designed or architected,” said Bray.
“It doesn’t have the security, performance, or reliability that is required to ensure the integrity that the modern world expects.
“Legacy solutions to solve these problems aren’t scalable or cost-effective. This became especially true once the cloud happened.
“The solution has been a massive shift at the network layer as ‘as-a-service’ delivery architecture evolves.
“Cloudflare is leading this transition through its extensive global network, providing security and enhancing the performance of business-critical applications, while at the same time eliminating the cost and complexity of managing network hardware within a global cloud platform.”
Cloudflare already has a strong foothold in the ANZ region, with its global network of 310 cities, including 11 in Australia, New Zealand and Oceania.
Having expanded into Sydney in 2012, the company now blocks millions of cyber threats a day, with an average of 409 million threats thwarted daily on average in Q3 2023.
“Amidst the rising volumes of cyber security incidents, Cloudflare is at the forefront of helping businesses secure applications, devices, and users in an ever-changing, complex threat environment,” said Bray.
“With Cloudflare’s vision for the future of the internet in mind, I’m eager to continue helping our customers in Australia and New Zealand while building our brand, local team, and partner ecosystem.”
Cloudflare’s vice-president and managing director for the Asia-Pacific region, Japan and China, Jonathon Dixon, congratulated Bray on his appointment, expressing his confidence in the new chief’s ability to expand Cloudflare’s protective services to a greater number of people and businesses.
“Australia and New Zealand’s most sophisticated organisations turn to Cloudflare for their cyber security and internet performance needs,” said Dixon.
“Our customers today have access to faster, more reliable, and more secure internet experiences than ever before, and with Steve Bray’s extensive experience in the ANZ region, we look forward to providing more customers with the solutions they need to work, develop, and accelerate their business.”
