The company said the purchase will support defensive action for users of its Falcon cloud platform against the potential threat of artificial intelligence-based cyber attacks.

“AI agents operate with superhuman speed and access, making every agent a privileged identity that must be protected,” said CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz.

“With SGNL, CrowdStrike will deliver continuous, real-time access control that eliminates the known and unknown gaps from legacy standing privileges.

“We’re disrupting the premise of modern privilege and access – for every identity, human or machine. This is identity security built for the AI era.”

CrowdStrike said the acquisition will result in Falcon becoming a more advanced and effective platform for users.

Despite already having secure, privileged access management (PAM) and identity threat detection and response (ITDR) mechanisms in place, SGNL will aid in the introduction of new and improved security measures.

Standing identification privileges will be removed, making access to the Falcon cloud platform available only when a customer needs it, rather than continuous authorisation. Falcon’s asset intelligence will be enhanced through the Continuous Access Evaluation Protocol (CAEP) to prevent “misconfiguration-driven breaches”.

Falcon will also extend access enforcement across major identity systems, such as Okta.

“SGNL was founded to connect access decisions with business reality,” said Scott Kriz, CEO of SGNL.

“The world needs our technology to eradicate the significant risk that legacy standing privileges expose in today’s and tomorrow’s environments.

“Joining CrowdStrike provides us with global scale natively through cyber security’s leading platform to transform enterprise security with continuous identity, furthering CrowdStrike’s mission of stopping breaches.”

The acquisition accompanies a major trend of businesses increasing their security mechanisms against potential AI cyber threats.

Last year, CrowdStrike was a part of a major cyber security glitch that saw Microsoft systems used by airlines, banks, broadcasters, and other businesses around the world adversely affected.
