Winners announced for Australian Cyber Awards 2025

Cyber Daily has announced over 30 winners for the annual Australian Cyber Awards.

Cyber professionals gathered tonight (Tuesday, 29 April 2025) at Ilumina, Sydney to celebrate excellence among Australia’s top businesses and professionals across the cyber sector.

The third annual Australian Cyber Awards demonstrates the sector’s essential role in safeguarding individuals, businesses, and the Commonwealth.

A total of 32 winners were selected out of 222 finalists for the prestigious awards, including the coveted Excellence Award.

Run in partnership with Principal Partner, CrowdStrike, the prestigious awards program spotlights all cyber stakeholders—from defence, insurance, cloud services, and technology through to those working in STEM, consultancy, and ransomware protection.

There were a total of 29 categories on offer including 14 individual and 15 group categories.

Some of the individual winners include Jack Reis of Baidam as Indigenous Cyber Security Leader of the Year, Yuvraj Sharma of Revio Cyber Security as Cyber Security Graduate of the Year, and Tania Ezra of Microsoft as Female Cyber Security Leader of the Year - Enterprise.

The group winners include Atturra as Cloud Service Provider of the Year, CrowdStrike as Threat Detection Business of the Year, and AUCyber as Endpoint Security Provider of the Year.

Derek Winter of University of New South Wales was the winner of the prestigious Excellence Award, having also won CISO of the Year earlier in the evening.

Australian comedian and television producer, Julian Morrow was the emcee, providing light and laughter throughout the evening.

Being named a winner of one of the prestigious Australian Cyber Awards provides professionals with national recognition for their contribution to the advancement of the cyber industry.

The awards ceremony also provided the unique opportunity for attendees to collaborate with industry leaders, peers, and colleagues.

Winners were selected using a robust judging criteria that was both quantitative and qualitative. The winners were assessed on growth, business development, diversity, leadership, innovation, business excellence and contribution to Australia’s cyber sector.
